Midnight Lands
A short Metroidvania where you play as a little witch who must find her way home.

Movement - Arrow keys, WASD

Interact with levers, talk to NPC, Safe the game, after death, after ability - E
Open the quest menu - Q
Heal - C (Only if you have croissants)

Tried again. First death once again failed to respawn me properly. Also, music decides seemingly randomly whether or not to play.
Really needs a respawn button to fix these issues.
EDIT: I wasn't actually locked this time! My character wasn't appearing at the second cauldron, turns out I'm spawning back at the first despite having saved below. Weird thing, the visuals are stuck to the second cauldron. So even though I respawned at the start of the game, the camera is showing me entirely different rooms than where it put the character.
I got softlocked when I was killed by an enemy. I was trying to attack and heal the moment I got hit, so maybe it messed with the respawn? Because I'm back at the cauldron, but I can't move. I can attack, but I'm stuck in the attract animation and cannot walk or jump.
now got softlocked on the screen after the bookcase one ! trying to cross the spikes to get the heart but got stuck behind the bookcase when it respawned ... it knocked me down off the screen and im gone ... really needs a respawn to checkpoint button as im having to restart every time !
i got softlocked on the screen just after the 2nd cauldron - tried pulling the bookcase towards me and it pushed me back to the previous screen but then i couldnt move
So I might've softlocked myself...
EDIT: A quick refresh of the page fixed it, but I lost all of my progress. This time, I tried to pull away a bookshelf, but when it hit the spikes, it respawned on top on me and pushed me out of bounds! A "respawn at checkpoint" button would be really nice. Also, the battle music keeps playing whenever I die, but I didn't really mind it that much.
Thankss for playing and all the feedback! The bookshelf bug is already fixed among with some general polishing of the game. I forgot about implementing the restart button lol but hopefully you shouldn't get softlocked again
